Our client is a digital health company focused on solutions that make it easy for individuals to take charge of their health and health care needs. While this growing enterprise is now part of a Fortune 100 organization, it maintains a separate identity and works hard to preserve the culture cultivated as a start-up technology firm. Every office has a unique expression, balancing local cultural touchpoints with the firm’s national brand. DLR Group’s design for their Minneapolis office provides a flexible, sophisticated and comfortable work environment that supports collaboration - a key aspect of our client’s culture. The office provides a variety of work settings for individual and team-based work, augmented by several amenity spaces to enhance the employee experience. There are no private offices. Leadership is in the center of the stations used by staff. While leaders have a dedicated meeting room, their workstations are the same benching stations used by staff. To maximize access to daylight and transparency through the space, workstation panels are low, and all meeting/huddle rooms feature glass fronts. A blended reception/break area acts as the heart of the space drawing employees together, while a quiet library space serves as a destination for respite and focus work. In addition to the Minneapolis location, DLR Group also designed projects in Chicago, Las Vegas and San Francisco.

Once the pandemic hit, this project became the perfect subject for testing out ‘return-to-office’ protocols following CDC guidelines. Our team developed multiple scenarios using the existing footprint to help the client determine the best outcome to safely bring employees back.
